RSPCA Victoria offers Animal Management Training for Animal Management Officers (AMOs), with interactive hands-on learning and real-life scenarios.
 

Key topics include:

  • Animal welfare and maintaining low stress environments
  • Identification of dog breeds
  • Dog body language and behaviour
  • Identifying signs of stress in dogs
  • Working with dogs displaying stress and fear behaviours
  • Safety around dogs
  • Using and maintaining equipment to keep people and dogs safe
  • Techniques to get dogs in and out of vehicles
  • What to do in the case of a dog attack
  • Cat body language and behaviour
  • Cat handling techniques
  • Identification of owned, semi-owned and unowned cats

 

Our training programs are delivered by qualified RSPCA Victoria Education Officers, Animal Care Attendants and Behaviourists.

This is the perfect professional development opportunity for council officers and supports the training requirements in Council Domestic Animal Management Plans (a provision of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 section 68A).

This is the perfect opportunity for young children aged 5 to 6 years to meet some well natured dogs, kind cats and friendly farm animals like Rachel the cow and Billy the goat! There will be plenty of animal interaction and animal inspired art and craft activities.

Are you crazy about cats, kooky about kittens, bonkers bout bunnies? We have a variety of fluffy and furry animal friends to introduce you to and we need your help to make their stay at the RSPCA more fun.

Participants will need to bring morning tea and a packed lunch.

 
   

RSPCA Fun and Games Day

Run, play, pat, feed, explore, make, find and discover! Join us for a great day of activities and animals.


Participants will need to bring morning tea and a packed lunch.


 
  

Horses and Ponies


For people who love ponies and horses! Come and groom Gus, our gorgeous Welsh Mountain Pony or meet Henry our thoroughbred. Find out about how the RSPCA helps horses, learn about caring for horses, make some equine inspired art and craft and much more horsey fun! 

Participants will need to bring morning tea and a packed lunch.



   

 

Rabbits and Guinea Pigs


Calling all kids who love animals! This is the perfect session for young children aged 7 to 12 to come and meet our gorgeous rabbits and guinea pigs and find all about what they need to be healthy and happy. Tour our shelter and make some animal art and craft. Honey Bun and friends look forward to seeing you!

Participants will need to bring morning tea and a packed lunch.

Is looking after animals your idea of a perfect job? Come and find out about the good, the bad and the smelly bits of working at the RSPCA.

Amazing Animal Art - Photography Day


Lights, Camera, Animal Art! Come and be part of our Animal Art session focusing on animal photography. Learn and practice your photography skills and complete photography challenges. Will YOUR photograph make it onto the RSPCA website? *Please bring your own digital camera or another digital photo taking device.
