Hi there, my name is Popeye and if you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an expression of interest form and a RSPCA staff member will contact you as soon as possible.
I am a special little guy looking for an equally special person to call my own. I can be a little shy with new people or in new situations, but I am generally easy to handle and quite affectionate. I just need someone confident to help me build up my own confidence and reach my full potential.
I had to have my left eye removed about six months ago which I'm coping with very well, however because of this I really need a confident, experienced owner to help me deal with it in new situations. I now rely heavily on my hearing on that side so you will need to be aware of your movements around me and get used to how I like to position myself while being handled and led etc. If you have experience dealing with a one eyed horse before that would be a huge bonus!
I came into the shelter as a young stallion, I have since been gelded however I am still getting used to life as a gelding. I would suit another calm gelding but I have recently been moved in with two very bossy mares and I'm doing just fine.
I am really a very sweet boy and a bit of a looker too, I just need to find that special person to bond with, one who can spend the time to teach me how the world works. I am quite green to handle and now that I only have one eye it can take me a little longer to pick up new things, however I have a heart of gold and will make a great pony for the right person.
I don't believe I am broken in, however there is no reason that with some clear, consistent training by an experienced person I couldn't make a nice little ridden horse. One of the staff here told me about a horse in America who has no eyes and is still has a ridden career, so I'm pretty sure I could handle it! I just need to find my perfect match.
As you can tell I am in need of a particular home so if you tick the boxes then please don't hesitate to fill in an expression of interest form and come and meet me!
I am desexed.
