The RSPCA relies on the support of volunteers to operate our op shops, support the work of our shelters and adoption centres, fund raise funds and community awareness at our events, as well as helping to promote animal welfare campaigns throughout Victoria. If you are aged 15 years or over, make a difference to animals in your region by becoming a RSPCA volunteer today.
RSPCA Animal Shelters and Adoption Centres
Volunteer at your local RSPCA shelter and adoption centre and help staff to provide customer service, clean animal holding pens, assist with animal husbandry, groom, exercise and feed animals. Opportunities are also available to support our grounds maintenance teams.
RSPCA op shops
RSPCA op shops are staffed by volunteers. Join our dedicated Op Shop Team and assist with merchandising, sorting goods, laundering, ironing and customer service.
RSPCA events
RSPCA events help fund raise funds and awareness to support our animal welfare work. Support our events, including our Million Paws Walk, as either a Regional Team Leader or Event Assistant.

The aim of our Work Experience Program is to give tertiary and secondary
students an understanding of the role of animal welfare and animal care
in the community by developing their participation and communication
skills through involvement in a variety of practical, relevant and
challenging activities.
The program is run from our regional areas
including Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Portland, Sale, Wangaratta and
Warrnambool. Our program runs for five days from Monday to Friday,
8.30am – 2pm (times may vary between locations).
Where can I work?
You will work at one of our regional Shelter responsible for the daily operations of the
kennels, cattery, barn and adoptions. It is a daily requirement that the
animals in the shelter are clean, fed and made as comfortable as
possible.
For full information on our Work Experience program, please read the manual below.

To apply, please make sure that you have read the manual and send the completed Regional Work Experience Application form with attention to the shelter in your vicinity. Find your local Shelter for the relevant full address.
If you are successful with your written
application phase, you will receive a brief telephone interview. You
will be advised if your application is unsuccessful. You will then need
to organise your Work Experience Arrangement Form through your school.
