RSPCA animal ambulances
The RSPCA animal ambulance plays a vital role in supporting the community by providing around-the-clock emergency care for animals in the eastern and south-eastern Melbourne metropolitan area.
Our Ambulances rescue sick, seriously injured or stray animals, bringing them back to our Burwood East veterinary clinic for care and rehabilitation. The RSPCA ambulance also assists in the care and rehabilitation of wildlife such as possums, ducks, cockatoos and echidnas by transporting them to Wildlife Victoria foster carers.
In the past year alone, our ambulance has rescued 853 animals, which is an average of 16 animals a week.
Our ambulance operates 24-hours a day, seven days a week. As we receive only 3% government funding, our ambulance is operated with the support of the community and sponsors. We are sincerely grateful for the support of our generous sponsor Go Diego Go, an animated children’s series created by the team at Nickelodeon. The show features an eight year old boy who helps animals in dangerous situations. As Diego continues to teach children the value of responsible pet ownership through his animal rescue endeavours, we are pleased to be partnering with Nickelodeon as sponsors of our animal ambulance.
