Honorary Life Membership

RSPCA Victoria is committed to recognising individuals who have made a significant voluntary contribution to animal welfare.

This is a most distinguished award, given to just a small number of commendable individuals during our 139 year history. In 2009 the RSPCA was delighted to award Mrs Lynn Buckley, Mr Clive Catlow and Mrs Linda Catlow Honorary Life Membership of RSPCA Victoria.

We would now like to invite you to start thinking about worthy nominees for the 2010 year. Nominations for Honorary Life Membership will open on the June 28 and will close on the July 30, 2010.

All nominations will be measured against specific criteria, considered and awarded where appropriate, by the RSPCA Board of Directors.

Newly awarded Honorary Life Members will be announced at the RSPCA Victoria Annual General meeting in October 2010. Previous nominees are most welcome to re-nominate.

Eligibility for Nomination

The following individuals are eligible for nomination for Honorary Life Membership of RSPCA Victoria.

• Volunteers in regular ongoing involvement for 20 years or more.

• Individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to improving animal welfare (this may include volunteers, President/Chairperson and Board members who may not have reached the service milestones).

• President/Chairperson - 10 years service.

• Board members - 15 years service.

Please note that achievement of the service eligibility does not automatically qualify someone to receive Honorary Life Membership.
Criteria for considering the nomination for an outstanding contribution by an individual to improve animal welfare may include, amongst other things:

• An individual campaigning for animal welfare changes that achieved the desired outcome, for example, legislative improvements.

• An individual contribution that results in substantial improvement in facilities for animal welfare.

• An individual who has shown leadership in their local community which has positively influenced community views about animal welfare.

• An RSPCA donor who has regularly contributed financially over a period of 20 years or more.

2010 nominations for Honorary Life Membership will open on June 28.
