RSPCA's Compulsory Cat Desexing

Support the RSPCA's Compulsory Cat Desexing Campaign by filling in the petition below:

Attention: The Honourable Joe Helper MP, Minister for Agriculture

I, the undersigned, support RSPCA Victoria’s campaign to introduce compulsory cat desexing. I urge you, the Minister for Agriculture to introduce to Parliament an amendment to the Domestic Animals Act, requiring all cats not registered for breeding, be desexed. Compulsory cat desexing would benefit:

Cat Welfare: Female cats have an astounding reproductive capacity, producing thousands of unwanted cats and kittens each year. Many of these cats become stray and live in poor health. Compulsory cat desexing would reduce this number of unwanted kittens.

The Environment: Stray cats often become wild, interfering with delicate ecosystems and threatening native Australian species. Compulsory cat desexing would stop this flow of stray cats to wild populations.

The Community: Undesexed cats are often considered a nuisance by the community as they tend to roam widely and are more frequently involved in cat fights. Compulsory cat desexing would reduce stray cat populations and remedy this problem.
