Hi there, my name is Shadow and
if you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an expression of interest form and a RSPCA staff member will contact you as soon as possible.
I am such a sweet, pretty little pony! I love a good scratch and a cuddle, I'm easy to catch, rug, worm, vaccinate and trim. I am just a touch over 11.3hh. I do however have some special needs that are very important.
I came into the shelter with really long overgrown hooves, they hadn't been trimmed in a really long time so it was really difficult for me to get around. I have since had a few trims by my super awesome talented farrier and am much more comfortable and get around without a problem, however it will still take another couple of trims before my hooves look completely normal.
I have been diagnosed with cushings disease so here's where my special needs come in. Because of my cushings it is VERY important that my new owners are knowledgeable on the subject to ensure I stay nice and comfortable by receiving appropriate treatment.
I am currently on daily medication that I will need to have every day for the rest of my life. This medication is very important so my new owners need to be able to give it to me daily. I am a very good girl to give it to, I think it tastes kinda nice so I'll stand still and wait at the gate for it each morning before my breakfast.
Another important aspect of my daily care to ensure my cushings doesn't flare up is my diet. I am prone to laminitis so I need an owner who has had experience feeding laminitic ponies before. The people who look after me here will discuss with any interested parties what I am currently being fed.
II have apparently been broken in before but it has been many years since I've had someone ride me so if you wanted me as a ridden pony I would need some retraining to bring me back into work.
If you think you might be that special person who can give me a forever home, I will reward you with years of love and affection.
I am not desexed.
