Portland Shelter Redevelopment
In
October 2006 the Portland Shelter redevelopment was officially opened by the
former Minister for Agriculture, the Hon Bob Cameron, RSPCA President, Dr.
Hugh Wirth AM KSJ and RSPCA Chief Executive Officer Maria Mercurio.
The opening of this shelter development marked a new beginning for the RSPCA
in this region and was the first facility in our state wide redevelopment
plans to become operational.
The shelter includes a veterinary surgery room, retail area, cat quarantine,
dog and cat adoption, disabled toilets, animal food preparation, staff room
and a large deck area. The Portland Shelter can house up to 65 cats and 45
dogs. This new facility allows us to provide an exceptional level of care to
animals in need.
