RSPCA CastlemaineCastlemaine News!!!Castelmaine Million Paws Walk 2008 Success! A very damp and cool Autumn morning was no deterrent to the dedicated people and their 4 legged friends who arrived at the Botanic Gardens for our second MPW. A lovely stroll and a feeling of goodwill made it a very pleasant time indeed. Our local band added to the mellow atmosphere with their beautiful music. We had some dogs too old to walk being carried, and a 3 legged, 18 year old dog as fit as a fiddle. There was lots of sniffing and tail wagging. Thank you to all who came and supported our local shelter.
Castlemaine 5th Birthday celebrations It was an excellent day in every way. The rain held off; over 270 pets were microchipped; there was great music, the competitions were fun and our supervisor had us enthralled with his fair dinkum auctioneer's skills at our auction! Many thanks to all who attended and made it such a great day, to those who contributed with donations and our wonderful volunteers who worked so hard all day.
Discount De-sexing vouchers available!!! Residents in the Mt. Alexander Shire have the benefit of discounted cat de-sexing vouchers - $16 for males and $25 for females. These vouchers are sponsored by the RSPCA, The Mt. Alexander Shire and Vets All Natural. The vouchers are available from the RSPCA Castlemaine Shelter. Apart from the benefit of your cat not producing unwanted litters of kittens, desexing will help your cat lead a longer and healthier life. Please drop in to the shelter to enquire.
"Ralph" The shelter cat who supervises cleaning time! Ralph the shelter cat moves for no man, or mop. He is mopped around rather frequently. (Note the dry patch of floor around Ralph!)
New night cage. Thanks to a very caring supporter of the RSPCA, we now have a much needed dog-holding night cage. Our other night cages are fine for smaller dogs and for cats, but were very cramped for larger dogs. This new cage is safe, secure and very roomy, able to hold even the largest of dogs. Many thanks indeed to the kind donor.
Volunteers Needed! We always love to have new volunteers. Jobs are many and varied. Right now we urgently need someone to come on the weekend. If you have some free weekend time and love animals, please call or drop in to enquire. About CastlemaineMidland Animal Welfare was granted RSPCA status in October 1995 and became RSPCA Castlemaine. The local RSPCA shelter provides care for more than 600 unwanted and stray animals each year. RSPCA Inspectors within the region attend cruelty complaints received from the public. RSPCA Victoria receives more than 9,700 cruelty complaints each year and 46% are from regional Victoria. RSPCA has an Opportunity Shop in Castlemaine where all funds raised help to support the local shelter and animal welfare services within the local community. To view the shop opening hours, please refer to the green panel on the
