  RSPCA Burwood East redevelopment

In 2007, we completed the Burwood East dog quarantine kennels, which marked the important first stage of the overall plan for developing our facilities. We are thrilled to announce that work has commenced on the final stage of the redevelopment which will see the construction of new and improved animal care facilities, including an indoor animal adoption centre, vet clinic and hospital, animal quarantine areas, wildlife area, purpose-built indoor dog training facility and doggie day care centre. All of which are environmentally sustainable. The redevelopment is due to be completed in 2013.

Our new facility will significantly improve the environment for the animals in our care, as well as our customers, staff and volunteers.

This redevelopment is only possible thanks to a number of extremely generous bequests that have been left to RSPCA Victoria specifically for this purpose. These gifts have left a lasting footprint on animal welfare in Victoria.

Changes to access and parking

During construction, we'll continue to have lots of on-site parking for visitors to our shelter, adoption centre, grooming and behaviour centre. Site access and the location of this parking will change as our redevelopment progresses.

You will need to access our Burwood East site from either the Middleborough Road entrance or the Burwood Highway entrance closest to Middleborough Road. The eastern entrance on Burwood Highway is now closed to the general public and is only accessible by construction vehicles.
