RSPCA Burwood East
RSPCA Burwood East
is our largest shelter, located in the south eastern suburbs of
Melbourne. Our community services at RSPCA Burwood East include our adoption centre, animal shelter, veterinary clinic, animal behaviour training,
grooming and education centre. Our emergency ambulances also operate from our Burwood East location.
RSPCA Burwood East is the head office of RSPCA Victoria so all the critical support services needed to continue our work across the state are based at this location.

Adoption centre
If you're looking to adopt a pet, there are lots of dogs, cats, rabbits
and guinea pigs waiting to find loving new homes at RSPCA Burwood East. Each year, more than 3,848 dogs and cats find second chances through our Burwood East adoption program.

Animal shelter
Our animal shelter offers many services, including providing refuge to
stray, abandoned and unwanted animals. We also provide support to a
selection of local councils, assisting with their pound services and run
our emergency animal ambulances from here.
In the past year, RSPCA Burwood East, provided shelter to more than 15,851 animals, including many transported from our small shelter in Epping.

Site redevelopment
RSPCA Burwood East is currently under redevelopment to make it a
state-of-the-art care, training and adoption facility. Phase one
of the re-build is completed with our dogs living in climate
controlled kennels. Phase two of our
site redevelopment is underway!

Veterinary clinic
Our clinic at Burwood East has a team of highly-skilled vets and nurses
who provide exceptional care to RSPCA shelter animals and privately
owned pets. Our vet clinic uses the latest specialised equipment with
on-site radiology and pathology testing facilities. Our caring vets and
nursing staff are trained in the latest techniques and have expansive
knowledge in a range of veterinary procedures.
Our clinics provide care to animals seven days a week, 365
days a year with all your pet's needs covered from emergency care to
simply routine vaccinations, health checks or microchips. Our Burwood
East clinic is open extended hours on weeknights to offer our clients
more convenient times to seek vet advice and care for their pets.

Behaviour and training
Trust your pet with the expert animal behaviour training at RSPCA
Burwood East. Attend a group course, one-on-one training with your pet
or learn more about animal behaviour at our short seminars.
Our Animal Behaviour team are also on-hand to help you with advice and guidance.

Pet supplies and retail shop
RSPCA Burwood East has a large retail shop to cater for all your pet's
needs. We stock everything from pet accessories, pets health products to
pet food including Hill's Science Diet.
We also have qualified vet nurses available if you need guidance or
advice and of course for your convenience, we have a large range of
products available at our online shop.
Our work in metropolitan Melbourne is supported with
fundraising from two op shops located just across the road in the
Burwood Heights Shopping Centre. You never know what little treasure you
might find and everything you spend is reinvested in the care of RSPCA
animals.

Grooming

Education centre
The RSPCA Victoria Education team are based at Burwood East. Although they travel around the state educating more than 12,000 people about animal welfare each year, much of their work is undertaken on-site at our Education Centre and barn.

Inspectorate
Our Inspectorate team investigate 14,121 estimate
reports of animal cruelty each year across Victoria. Many of our
Inspectors are based at RSPCA Burwood East, including our two Senior
Team Leaders and Manager Inspectorate Services, who lead our tireless
work investigating and prosecuting cruelty.
