RSPCA Ballarat
Since 1968, RSPCA Ballarat has provided refuge, care and rehabilitation to animals from the Ballarat and surrounding areas. In the past year alone, RSPCA Ballarat has cared for 4,428 animals.
RSPCA Ballarat is one of our biggest regional shelters. Our tireless work in Ballarat and our achievements in animal welfare are only made possible with generous support from the local community. Whether you are able to contribute a financial donation, donate blankets, attend our local Million Paws Walk or spare your time as a volunteer - everything helps the animals we care for.
The operations of RSPCA Ballarat are overseen by our Shelter Supervisor, Claire, and a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Meet Claire Cooper (RSPCA Ballarat Shelter Supervisor)
Claire joined the organization in February 2013 as the shelter supervisor for the Ballarat Shelter. Taking charge of the fourth largest shelter in the state, Claire’s days are varied and never dull, she regularly liaises with our other regional shelters, the Head Office at Burwood East and local councils.
Claire’s day commences by greeting staff and getting the day’s jobs underway. Claire is not afraid to get her hands dirty and also helps out with the hands-on work, such as cleaning and feeding the animals.
Claire loves spending time with the animals and getting to know them when she can. Claire is delighted when animals can find their forever homes after seeing them come in, in a sad and quite often poor condition. Claire strives for excellence and acknowledges that her job can be unpredictable, things will go crazy from time to time but that’s what is challenging to her and brings out her best.
